Association president Tony Wills urged anyone who might be interested to attend.
“As soon as I retired as a player and threw all of my cricket gear onto the Noradjuha clubrooms roof I knew umpiring was for me – it’s the best view on the ground,” he said.
“It’s a bit tough on the body, but if you can get through a day of playing cricket, you will be up to umpiring.”
The information session will start at 7pm at the Horsham City Oval clubroom with the association hopeful of attracting new faces to be involved in umpiring.
Wills said the inclusion of the West Wimmera Warriors as well Blackheath-Dimboola and Quantong moving into B Grade meant there was a desperate need for new umpires.
A recommendation from the recent association delegates meeting will see the association board take over management of the umpires group this season.
The Association currently has six regular umpires but would have at least 12 to function optimally.
Anyone interested in learning more about umpiring is welcome to give a call to Tony Wills on 0407 510555 or HCA Secretary Darren Chesterfield 0439 821763.
Tuesday’s meeting is open to all players, umpires, club captains and coaches as well as parents who would like to get involved in the umpiring at junior level.
