Mr Craig replaces former chief executive Wally Coleman, who finished in the role last week. Ms Coleman notified the board earlier this year of her intentions to resign for personal reasons.
Mr Craig held the role of Goolum Goolum general manager for four years and has performed as acting CEO since December 2017.
He said he was thrilled to take on the role.
“It’s a great step for me and I’m looking forward to working with the community in this role,” he said.
Board chairman John Gorton said Mr Craig was the perfect choice for the role.
“Tony’s appointment is validation of the stability and strength of the organisation,” he said.
“I am looking forward to working with Tony and the staff to continue the important work being done by Goolum across a wide range of services to the local indigenous community.”
Mr Craig officially started in his new role this week.
