Horsham Country Music committee member Janice Merrett said the group raised $8500 over four weeks. She said the fundraiser has shown the enormous amount of generosity in the Wimmera community.
“We suggested to the public that the profits from the next two shows would go towards drought aid. By just passing a donation hat around at the Thursday and Friday show we raised $800,” she said.
“The committee did three consecutive Fridays raising money at Horsham Plaza and we decided the committee would also contribute $5000 to the cause.”
Ms Merrett said there are many farmers who attend the Horsham Country Music festival each year.
“It was important that we helped the people who support us each year.”
