Comprising of players in the Wimmera-Mallee region, which includes the Wimmera Netball Association, Horsham District league and North Central Netball Association, 17 and under and 15 and under teams competed.
The 15 and under girls finished 11th out of 18 teams.
The team had a great Saturday, winning its first three games and finishing the day with six wins and three losses.
Sunday proved to be much harder for the side, losing all eight games.
However, the 15 and under Wimmera-Mallee girls performed well against Two Bays on Sunday morning.
Two Bays topped the age group with 15 wins and two losses, but Wimmera-Mallee pushed the side and just lost by one goal.
The 17 and under girls finished 10th overall with eight wins and nine losses across the two days.
Coach Gayle Leith said the girls performed really well against tough opposition.
“They all did really well and were not disgrace by any means,” she said.
“It was very hot both days and we lost to the eventual winners Jika by just three goals. We cannot remember getting that close to some of those top teams for a while.
“We picked the teams late this year and with some of the girls playing finals we could only train a few times.”
Leith said the girls enjoyed the experience.
“The intensity was really high and both teams have really done an excellent job,” she said.
“All I’ve had is positive feedback. They all enjoyed it and couldn’t get over how full on it was. The 17 and under team really pushed some of the bigger associations.”
