Yendall rode Another Coldie to a new track record in a time of 1:49.57, just shaving time off the previous record of 1:49.65.
It was Yendall’s second Horsham Cup win and first since 2009.
It was a one-two finish for Weir, with Top Prospect finishing second in front of Philippe Huserot’s Chestnut Charlie.
Horsham trainer Paul Preusker finished fifth in the cup with his horse Miss Coolangatta, while last year’s winner Our Bottino finished in seventh.
Our Bottino took an early lead with a fast pace out of the gates. Yendall placed Another Coldie beautifully in fourth at the 1000m mark in the 1800m race.
With 600 metres left, Our Bottino still held the lead before Yendall made his move.
When the horses turned the corner for the home straight, Another Coldie hit the front and with a strong final sprint won easily.
Yendall said Darren Weir had given him a great ride for the cup.
“It was a really good ride and Darren gave me a great ride that travelled really well,” he said.
“It’s been a while since I’ve won here so it’s great to get the win. Darren is a great trainer to ride for.
“The win wouldn’t be possible without this facility and the track has come up in really good condition.”
Horsham and District Racing Club president Jason Merlo said it was fantastic to see a Horsham jockey win the cup.
“It’s good to see a local boy go on and win the cup,” he said.
“The attendance on the day has been fantastic in our return to Sunday racing and the people have voted.”
