Visitors packed the hall kitchen for afternoon tea before the doors to the show were opened on Sunday.
Wonwondah Hall committee president Jill Warren said entries were up for this year’s event, which also featured preserves, fruit and vegetables, and children’s LEGO creations.
“We had a lot of flower entries, particularly roses and bearded irises. We had 30 bearded irises this year, which is insane,” she said.
“We introduced a new section this year for chocolate cakes. We try to do something different for people who don’t have flowers so they can enter something as well.
“We were a bit worried with the fleeces this year, with how the year has been, but we had 30.
“They are our main fundraiser for the hall. The fleeces are all donated, and the money we make from them goes to hall projects.
“We should do quite well this year as the wool prices are high.”
The fleece and flower show has been a fixture on the Wonwondah community calendar for at least 60 years.
Wonwondah’s Margaret Hallam has entered the show most years since it started.
This year, she submitted 15 flower entries.
“I just love the garden. I’m a gardener-holic,” she said.
“I have 90 roses. Roses to me are very easy to look after. If you are putting in annuals every year, it’s harder.”
