MORE than 80 students participated in a primary school golf competition hosted by Golf Australia and Wimmera District Golf Association at Stawell Golf Club on Friday.

Students competed on the modified nine-hole course for a place at the regional final in Horsham on November 12.
Golf Australia's regional development officer Tony Collier said he was delighted with the turn out for the very first Stawell Primary School competition.
“I am grateful for all the local schools that got behind the local program and support it. The program is a real boost for junior golf within the Wimmera region,” he said.
Connor Weidemann of Rupanyup won the boys’ division with a score of 35.
St Patricks’ Natalie Coffey topped the girls’ division with 54.

Also qualifying in the boys’ division was Jacob Dunn, Lewis Reading, Austin Tyers, Jack Clementson, Will Hotker and Brady McMahon.
Lia Hayward, Rory Starick, Shari Atchinson and Teagan Raeburn were awarded a spot in the final.
Stawell’s competition was the last qualifier before the regional final with students participating in competitions at Nhill, Warracknabeal, Horsham and Edenhope golf clubs.
