The construction of the National Broadband Network is well underway and is expected to be completed in the upcoming months.
Ebony Aitken, head of NBN local for Victoria, said access to faster broadband was “just around the corner and encouraged resident to prepare for the switch to a NBN access network plan.
Once construction is complete, people in Edenhope will have access to the “benefits of fast internet.”
This includes “on-demand entertainment options, access to online learning tools and the ability to work remotely”.
“This is exciting news for the community as once construction work is complete, residents and businesses will have access to fast broadband for the first time,” Ms Aitken said.
“The community have no doubt seen NBN Co contractors performing construction work in the community to build the infrastructure.
“We’re working hard to roll the network out as quickly as we can with as little disruption as possible.”
Ms Aitken said the rollout comes as access to the network continues to progress across the Grampians region.
Ms Aitken said regional areas across have been prioritised in the NBN rollout.
“The digital divide between the city and the bush is estimated to shrink with new research revealing Australia now ranks 17th among developed countries – up from 29th in 2012 – in terms of equality of internet speed and proportion of people without access,” she said.
Ms Aitken said people could visit www.nbnco.com.au to find out when the NBN access network would be available in other areas in the Wimmera.
