Cr Ismay was officially sworn in for the 2018-19 term at a statutory meeting on Wednesday night. Cr Debra Nelson was also nominated for the role, however didn’t receive enough votes.
Cr Ismay said he was pleased with his re-election.
“There are still lots of projects that need to be pursued; we’re getting some really good grants at the moment,” he said.
“I highly respect my fellow councillors and think we really work together well. I’m looking forward to a second term. There are quite a few things in the pipeline and there will be some exciting announcements ahead.”
He said one issue he was passionate about lobbying for were rail lines upgrades.
“There is one particular grain freight section between Ararat and Portland that is a real bottle neck,” he said.
“The Rail Freight Alliance want to lobby the state government for funding to fix that. It would be a real benefit for Dimboola.”
