Most of the damage was done by the rinks skipped by Ash Batchelor and John Schmidt who both won by 17 shots. Nhill 1 jumped into the four when they won all 4 rinks against Kaniva 1 to win by 41 shots. Ray Olney, Col Alexander, Trevor Merrett and John Lynch (s) were 33-17 winners in the match. Horsham Golf 1 and Dimboola 1 both won two rinks each but it was Golf who came out on top by 4 shots. A 30-19 win by Andrew Cowell, Denis Ballinger, Kelvin Robinson and Murray Gannon (s) provided an important buffer for the winners. Coughlin Park 1 defeated Horsham City 2 by 38 shots with all four rinks having good wins.
In Division 2, Coughlin Park 2 won by 8 shots in the first loss of the season by Sunnyside 2. Grenville Short, Vince Antonucci, Graeme Tegelhuter and Paul O'Shannessy (s) ensured victory with a 32-11 win. Sunnyside 3 climbed to the edge of the four with a 62 shot win over Edenhope 1. All four rinks had good wins for Sunnyside. Good wins by Bob Pritchett and Don Hartigan were enough to earn Natimuk a 22 shot triumph over Nhill 2. Horsham City 3 gained a second win for the season when it finished 16 shots ahead of Goroke. Each side won two rinks each, but a 17 shot margin by Ed Warrick, David Chaney, Greg Dixon and Tom Blair (s) proved vital.
All but one game in Division 3 was decided by 7 shots or less. Both Nhill sides had narrow wins, Nhill 3 defeated Kaniva 2 by 3 shots and Nhill 4 defeated Dimboola 2 by 4 shots.
A 25-7 win by Ian Ryan, Graeme Scobie, Ray Dodson and Ralph Chequer (s) got Coughlin Park 3 up by 7 shots against Horsham Golf 2 despite being the only winning rink. Coughlin Park 4 beat Edenhope 2 by 1 shot in a close game at Edenhope. A 33-12 win by Bron McRae, Bob Jackman, Bob Ferguson and Rob Hetherton (s) was the major blow in a 29 shot win by Sunnyside 4 over Horsham City 4.
In Midweek Pennant, Kaniva defeated Horsham City 1 by just 1 shot. A win by Colleen Dickinson earnt Nhill the win by 8 shots over Dimboola. Jill Coutts did the same to keep Sunnyside 1 ahead of Coughlin Park 1 by 9 shots.
In Division Two, Serviceton also managed a 1 shot win, this time over Natimuk. Pam Bonnici, Nadine Stacey, Merle Burns and Bev Hadden (s) from Goroke won by 35-9 in a 41 shot side win over Coughlin Park 2. Horsham City 2 won by 24 over Edenhope.
