The Coasters are the only team the Lady Hornets have lost to in the Country Basketball League south west conference so far this season.
Their first match-up came in round one, where the Portland team prevailed by six points.
However the Lady Hornets have not dropped a game since, while the Coasters registered their first loss of the season in round five.
The Coasters sit atop the ladder after six rounds, ahead of the Lady Hornets only by percentage.
Both teams head into Sunday’s match after a week off.
Lady Hornets coach Damien Kilpatrick said his players were focused on executing their game rather than worrying too much about the opposition.
“We’ve been working really hard on our defensive structure, and moving the ball faster in offence,” he said.
“We are concentrating on our own game and hoping the rest will take care of itself.”
Kilpatrick said it was pleasing to see his team’s work-rate increase over the past few rounds.
“We’ve got a better spread of scorers, and we’re moving the ball quicker,” he said.
“We’re starting to settle a bit compared with the first round.
“Our turnovers are still a little bit too high though. There's still a lot of room for improvement.”
Kilpatrick said ensuring the team’s contingent of young players had opportunities on-court was important, and he was pleased with their progress.
“It's a development year for them, and next year will be too,” he said.
“They've come on and made mistakes, and we expect them to because they're young.
“They can either come in and train, get a chance and make mistakes and learn that way, or they can sit in the stands and watch.
“We don’t think sitting in the stands is going to help them improve, so we’re prepared to let them make mistakes.
“We have to find ways to get minutes into these girls, but we have to pick our times when we put them in too.”
Sunday’s match tips off at noon.
