Both teams are in exceptional form; the Tigers have strung together three wins in a row while Homers remain undefeated after five matches.
The closest Homers have come to being beaten was when the two sides last faced off in round two, with Homers coming away with a two wicket victory.
Jung captain Angus Adams is hoping to go one better over the next two weekends.
“Their probably the team to beat at the moment,” he said. “It was a very close match last time we played, so hopefully we can improve on that and get a win.”
Adams identified the wicket of Homers’ all-rounder Jarred Combe as a key to success. Combe has been in exceptional touch, averaging 47 runs this season.
“I think getting him out is the big one for us,” Adams said.
“He always seems to make a few runs and is sort of like their rock in that middle order. They seem to bat around him a bit.”
Adams is hoping the Tigers continue their good form with the bat after they chased down Horsham Saints’ first innings total of 343 with two wickets to spare last weekend.
“We’re going in with a bit of good form, winning our last three and making 350 last weekend which is no mean feat,” Adams said.
“Five of our top six reached 50 which is a good sign. Hopefully we can carry that into this weekend and one of us can go on to a bigger score this time.”
But it can be difficult against Homers, who possess one of the most potent bowling line-ups in the competition.
“They have three genuine front-line bowlers and spinners as well,” Adams said.
“They probably have three of the best spinners in the competition, so it can be very hard to score in the middle overs.”
After a collective total of 697 runs were made at City Oval last round, a similarly high-scoring encounter can be expected between RUP-MINYIP and the HORSHAM SAINTS at the batting-friendly pitch.
The Saints won by four wickets last time the two sides met, but Rup-Minyip are in good form after getting their first win on the board last round against Laharum. The Saints will be trying to keep themselves in second place with a win.
LAHARUM meanwhile are hoping to bounce back against the WEST WIMMERA WARRIORS. The Warriors are still looking for their first win of the season.
