Mandy Stephan will take the reins as Nhill Tigers’ A Grade coach for the 2019 Wimmera Netball Association season.
Stephan returns to the role after coaching A Grade several years ago. Nhill netball director Rebecca Clark said the club was pleased to secure Stephan again for the top job.
“We are extremely excited to have Mandy returning to the position as she brings a tremendous set of skills with her,” she said.
“When she coached the club several years ago she did a lot of work with the players, so it’s nice to have her excited to return and wanting to come back.
“Mandy is looking forward to discussing and developing shared goals on the court and building a culture throughout the club that is proud and inclusive.”
Despite finishing on the bottom of the ladder last season and winning only two games, Clark said the young team’s promise was what drew Stephan to the role.
“She was able to watch the girls play throughout the season and was really excited by the potential that she saw,” Clark said. “That’s what sparked her to apply for the position.”
The club has retained its key players from last season and is hopeful of improvement after a number of difficult seasons.
“We’ve re-signed most – a lot of players have been given contracts and are staying on,” Clark said.
“We’re thrilled to have the likes of Lauren Tink, Georgia Sealey and Charlotte Foulds all returning next year. The girls are all looking forward to working with Mandy.”
Clark was also pleased Foulds and Sealey had taken on junior coaching jobs.
“They’re just so enthusiastic and excellent role models, so we’re excited to have them with the club. It’s great to have A Grade players coaching our juniors,” she said.
“We are looking forward and excited for the 2019 season.”
Emma Dickinson has also re-signed as the coach of B Grade, while the club hopes to announce C Grade coach in the next few weeks.
