ABC denied the claims, saying the Goulburn Murray team has the full support of ABC management.
The former employees both wished to remain anonymous for fear of retribution.
The pair – who contacted The Border Mail independently and worked at the station at different times – both said bullying and intimidation regularly occurred during their time at ABC Goulburn Murray.
“It’s a very sad situation inside those walls and it goes back years,” one said. “There’s been a lot of tension, it even resulted in mediation at one point.”
The same former employee said they tried to raise the issue of bullying with ABC higher ups at the time, but felt their concerns were brushed aside.
“I felt it fell on deaf ears,” the former worker said. They did not lodge a formal complaint.
Eventually, the first employee said, they left because of the bullying culture.
The second employee said bullying was also a factor in their decision to leave, describing the environment as ‘toxic’.
An ABC spokesman said the organisation does not tolerate bullying, discrimination or harassment and policies encourage employees to raise “legitimate issues or concerns” and to lodge grievances. He said these were taken very seriously.
“Our Goulburn Murray bureau is one of our highest performing teams,” he said.
“The team works well together, provides support for each other and continually produces high quality content.”
