But, parents of the Wimmera did not share the same love for these two names according to the Wimmera Mail-Times’ classifieds birth notices, which showed that Oliver or Olivia failed to make the cut.
In second place of the state’s top ten baby names was Jack and Charlotte. Both were popular choices for the region’s parents.
Kaniva’s Erin and Brad Witmitz welcomed Jack on May 2. She said the name had been an easy choice.
“I had always liked the name and wanted to use it for my own children as it is my father's nickname,” she said.
“His name is Robert, but all his life people have called him Jack. So while my Jack is not named after him directly, it is a nice ode to my dad.”
Mrs Witmitz said Jack was also an easy name to spell.
“We have an unusual surname, so we needed something straightforward to go with it,” she said.
