Detective Senior Constable David Richardson said an orange Ford Ranger was stolen from Horsham Bearings and Industrial Supplies between 8pm on January 27 and 4am on January 28, along with a twelve-by-nine flatbed trailer, hand tools and pressure washers.
An orange Ford Ranger was also one of the vehicles seen leaving the scene after a burglary at the Kaniva IGA at around 4.40am on January 28. $13,000 in cash and cigarettes were stolen.
“We are looking for anyone who has seen the orange Ranger to contact us,” Detective Senior Constable Richardson said.
“The one stolen from Horsham also had a canopy on its trailer, so if there are any shopowners, drivers on the highway or roadhouse owners who saw it, we want to know which direction it traveled from Horsham.”
Detective Senior Constable Richardson said the offenders cut the rear gates and forced the door to gain entry during the Horsham incident. It is also believed they disabled the security alarm by cutting wires around 2pm on Saturday January 26.
Detective Senior Constable Richardson said anyone with information should phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Horsham Police on 5382 9200.
MONDAY 1PM: POLICE will return to the IGA supermarket in Kaniva on Tuesday, after a burglary there early on Monday morning.
Two men remain on the run.
Detective Leading Senior Constable Dennis Foster said they were notified at 5am, after the owner of the Commercial Street East premises was woken by the alarm going off at the store.
Detective Leading Senior Constable Foster said early investigations suggest the two men entered the back of the store via the roof at around 4.40am. They left with money and cigarettes after being disturbed by the owner at the front door. The value and amount of each are yet to be determined.
Detective Leading Senior Constable Foster said the men ran out the back door and jumped into an orange Ford Ranger wildtrak dual cabinet ute towing a tandem trailer, and a white Holden Captiva.
“The whereabouts of those vehicles are of particular interest to police,” he said.
“Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Horsham Police on 5382 9200.”
The vehicles were last seen leaving Kaniva and heading towards the South Australian border.
“Crime scene officers have processed the scene, and there will be ongoing inquiries tomorrow once the owners of surrounding businesses come back from the public holiday and we can view CCTV footage,” he said.
“This will clarify what we think we know already.”
