Horsham coach Deek Roberts said it was unfortunate to see Wood go, but was confident in the side’s depth.
“He has moved to Melbourne so he won’t be playing for us,” Roberts said.
“It is a loss, but we’ve definitely got a lot more depth than we had this time last year which is a welcome change.
“We’ve got really good numbers, it’s going to help a lot.”
Helping provide that depth, former Horsham District league players Laharum’s Ambrose Launder and Pimpinio’s Kyle Dumesny have moved to Horsham for the upcoming season.
Launder played eight matches for Laharum last season and booted five goals. He joins fellow former Laharum player Sam Vincent in crossing across to the Demons this off-season.
Horsham coach Deek Roberts said both players were keen to make the switch.
“If you talk to most District footballers – especially some of the younger guys – most want to have a crack at the Wimmera League one day,” Roberts said.
“Both guys want to test themselves and have some mates at the club as well.”
Roberts said Dumesny had shown a great attitude and was training superbly since joining Horsham.
“Plugger is great, he’s a good lad, trains hard and represents all the morals that we try to have at the club,” Roberts said.
“He really wants to have a go and get up to standard fitness wise. He’s giving himself every chance to contribute to our side which is great.”
