The workshops will be held at Nhill on February 28, and Donald on March 1.
They will be delivered by Stock Sense in partnership with the Birchip Cropping Group and will include presentations from a number of industry experts.
Veterinarian Dr Patrick Kluver will discuss some of the main biosecurity risks associated with restocking and some of the major disease drivers on farms in mixed cropping enterprises.
Agriculture Victoria senior sheep veterinarian Dr Robert Suter will inform farmers on how to manage the late summer autumn feed gap with stubbles.
The day will also include two local producers who will run through some of the management strategies they use on farm and what it means for their business.
Sheep and grain producer Robyn Gulline, from Longerenong, will talk about her journey with Sheep eID, from when it was introduced in Victoria until now.
She will also discuss how it is an integral part of the sheep management on her property.
“We’ve turned what could have been considered an impost into a bonus that drives our productivity, makes money for us and with a little planning is simple to implement,” Ms Gulline said.
Michael Craig will talk about how biosecurity has become an integral part of his mixed sheep, beef and cropping enterprise in Harrow.
“Biosecurity just makes sense for us and is now second nature to what we do; we do it because it makes the farm easier to run, not harder, it increases productivity and means less labour input,” Mr Craig said.
The meetings will start at 9.30am and include a light lunch.
The Nhill session will be held at the Nhill Golf Club, and the Donald session at the Donald Golf and Bowls Club.
