Two homes remain without power in Warrackbnabeal, as do another 26 in Rainbow, as Powercor continues to repair the damage done by Wednesday’s storm activity in the Wimmera.
The estimated restoration time in Warracknabeal is 4pm.
The Bureau of Meteorology reports Longerenong received 29.2 millimetres of rain across the 24 hours to 9am, Horsham 10.2, Nhill 12.6 and Stawell 16.
WEDNESDAY 4.30PM:
The severe storms that hit the Wimmera this afternoon are starting to move further east, after heavy but brief downpours and power outages which are ongoing.
The SES responded to a call for assistance for a house with a leaking roof on Stawell Road just south of the Wimmera river in Horsham around 3.20pm. There were also two calls for assistance in Warracknabeal across Wednesday.
Powercor said 26 properties were still without power south of Horsham, 36 in Jeparit, 35 in Hopetoun and 34 in Rainbow. For Rainbow, the power should be back on by 5.30pm, Jeparit 8pm and Hopetoun 10pm.
UPDATE 2:30PM:
Longerenong received 22 millimetres of rain in just 37 minutes last hour, as the Wimmera was hit by severe thunderstorms. For Stawell it was nine in nine minutes.
Powercor said power remained out to 1175 properties in Warracknabeal. Thirty-seven properties remained without power in Wallup and 19 in Riverside. It is still expected to be 3.30pm before power is restored.
On Tuesday, the power provider said it was expecting storms across Wednesday and Thursday to impact the network.
UPDATE 1.30PM:
More than 1100 homes are without power in Warracknabeal at the moment, as are hundreds more across the Wimmera, as severe thunderstorms lash the region.
In Horsham, power is out to 118 homes, 78 at Riverside, 61 at Dooen and 50 in Kewell.
The cause is under investigation, however dozens of lightning strikes have hit the Wimmera in the past few hours.
Powercor said it would have the power back on by about 3.30pm.
