Miller, 17, rose to the challenge against the ladder-leading St Michael’s and said she enjoyed the contest, particularly her first match with teammate Ben Argent.
“It was a good experience to play against really good quality tennis on the men’s side,” Miller said.
“The first game I played with Ben, we came back from a few games down and forced a tiebreaker. It was a good comeback and a lot of fun.”
Miller said she had been enjoying her tennis in the Wimmera’s top division this season.
Playing the sport she started at a young age, Miller was keen to encourage young athletes to continue playing tennis.
“I’ve played since I was very little, I played all through juniors and have always enjoyed it,” she said.
“People do drop off with tennis at about the high school age but it’s good to see there’s a few more kids that are coming through now and sticking around.”
Miller said she wasn’t sure if she would have to play in the men’s side of the draw again when Drung South take on Kalkee on Saturday. It is a big match between the two sides with only one game separating them on the ladder and just three rounds left in the season.
“It’s definitely close between all the teams on the ladder this season which is exciting," Miller said.
“We’ve been a bit all over the place this year but once we get everyone back hopefully we can play well.”
Horsham Lawn also play Telangatuk East while Haven face St Michael’s.
Haven will be trying to recreate their remarkable upset of St Michael’s earlier in the season. Haven remain the only team to have defeated St Michael’s this season.
