Despite blustery conditions on Saturday, the 20th edition of the Horsham Triathlon turned out to be a stellar event for junior and senior competitors.

Things were looking precarious with some rough early morning weather, but it cleared up in the afternoon and competitors were pleased by the mild conditions allowing for a smoothly ran event.
“It was a fantastic day,” Pumpa said. “It started off not so good in the morning but it cleared up and worked out quite well. It was still a bit windy but it is always going to be a bit like that in the Horsham plains.
“The numbers were definitely up because it was the 20th year, the course was fast as usual – the whole day was fantastic.”
Liam Green from Melton posted the best time of the day, completing the course in just over an hour with a time of 1:02:14. Daryl Burns, Ron Thomas, Steve Gray and Jayson Carroll were not too far behind, all finishing in under 1:06:00.
Rebecca Cladingboel won the female open event not too far behind with a time of 1:05:50.
Up-and-coming Horsham triathlete Ella Walsgott also put in an impressive performance, winning the female under-18 competition with a time of 1:14:38.
Natimuk United Football Netball Club got their pre-season off to an intense start. With 16 competitors representing the club, Natimuk United won the $400 team’s award for having the most participants.
