Hettie French, Genevieve Bush, Jack Pidgeon and Josh Freeman faced-off against the best junior tennis players in the state at the tournament in a testing weekend.
Team manager Luci Pidgeon said it was a terrific experience for the youngsters.
“It was an awesome experience for the kids,” Pidgeon said.
“To get to play at Kooyong is something they might not get to experience again.”
The side’s best result came against the Bendigo based Loddon Campaspe team.
Hettie French was the only one to win her singles in a tight 7-6 match. But in the mixed doubles, the partnerships of Freeman/Bush and French/Pidgeon combined for two excellent 6-4 wins.
The team ultimately lost the contest despite finishing even on sets, 3-32 to 3-22.
“They represented the Wimmera incredibly well,” Pidgeon said.
“We always get a lot of comments about how well they compete against the bigger regions and how they play their tennis in the right spirit.”
