Country Fire Authority District 17 operations officer Craig Brittain said it was a flare up of a fire that began just before 11am on Wednesday. The fire was declared safe at 6.46pm.
It caps off a busy day for Wimmera firefighters.
Wednesday 3.30pm: The Country Fire Authority has responded to four separate fires throughout the region on Wednesday.
CFA District 17 operations officer Craig Brittain said fire crews responded to a grassfire at a vacant block on Woodward Street in Nhill.
Mr Brittain said one vehicle attended the scene and the fire was brought under control at about 1.55pm. He said the cause of the fire was unknown.
Meanwhile, there were two separate fires near Rupanyup.
Mr Brittain said one fire was one-kilometre south of Rupanyup on the Stawell-Warracknabeal Road.
The other fire started on the Wimmera Highway at 1.20pm.
Mr Brittain said the Rupanyup fire brigade attended the fire with support of a passing water tanker nearby.
The two fires near Rupanyup were caused by an "overheated wheel bearing of a passing vehicle". Mr Brittain said the fires were quickly brought under control.
Earlier, a fire started on the Western Highway near Northern Grampians Road at 10.48am.
Mr Britain said the fire started on the side of a road, but it did not spread into a neighbouring paddock because the property was well-maintained.
He said two brigades attended the scene. The fire was quickly extinguished by 11.25am.
