ANZ has placed seven decorated street signs at Oxford Streets across Australia, including the corner of Oxford Street and Battery Street in Deep Lead. The signs feature the hashtag 'equal future' on the signs.
The Deep Lead location is the only one in Victoria.
It comes following ANZ research highlighting nearly one in five LGBTIQ community members in Victoria are uncomfortable discussing their sexuailty with family and friends.
The signs on Oxford Streets aim to bring Mardi Gras from Oxford Street in Sydney to different parts of the nation.
“At ANZ we believe that the same pride and inclusion experienced at the nation’s largest LGBTIQ+ celebration on Oxford St in Sydney, belongs on all streets and in all communities,” ANZ Australian group executive and diversity council chair Mark Hand said.
Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras chief executive Terese Casu said she is thrilled a piece of Mardi Gras has been able to be shared across Australia.
"We hope the installations serve as a reminder that individuality is worth celebrating and that they prompt conversation around LGBTIQ+ inclusion in a range of different communities," she said.
