The independent company Endeavour Petroleum has plans to open a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week self-service petrol station by mid-year where diesel fuel will be provided.
The station will be located at 48-50 Golf Course Road in Horsham's industrial estate. The site will be able to service cars and b-double trucks.
This will be the 11th petrol station in Horsham where high petrol prices are a constant concern among residents.
The Endeavour Group's marketing manager Ross Gilberthorpe said the company has acquired four sites in central and western Victoria despite being predominately found in the Gippsland area.
Mr Gilberthorpe said the company was aware of the concerns surrounding high petrol prices and hoped its presence will create more competition in the Horsham fuel market.
"We have heard the commentary around the price of fuel in this region and we feel it is important to come and support the area," he said. "We know the situation in the region and the company aims to be competitive."
Mr Gilberthorpe could not provide an estimated cost of fuel for its Endeavour Petroleum Horsham petrol station, but assured it will be a "competitive" price.
RACV's vehicle engineering manager Michael Case said the average retail price in Horsham yesterday was $1.38, which was slightly higher than Melbourne fuel prices.
Exactly one year ago, the fuel price for Horsham was $1.39.
"In 2018, the average price for Horsham was $1.47 ranging between a high of $1.59 and a low of $1.38," he said.
