Nhill, Dimboola and Kaniva police officers teamed-up for a statewide operation called Operation Arid that was in play from Friday to Monday.
A South Australian woman and a man from Melbourne have both been fined for speeding on the Western Highway between Nhill and Kaniva on Sunday morning.
Sergeant Matt Currow said officers nabbed the 60-year-old Adelaide woman going 115 kilometres an hour at 10.20am.
The 35-year-old Werribee man was going 125 kilometres an hour, about a half an hour later. The speed limit on this stretch of road is 100.
"Each received a penalty notice, a $322 fine and a three points off their licences," Sergeant Currow said. "We are actively enforcing the speed limit and we hope drivers get the message and slow down."
Kaniva Sergeant Darren Wright said several infringement notices have been issued in relation to speeding and road-related offenses.
He said a number of breath test were taken, but there were no issues.
"Overall, we are happy with the way drivers conducted themselves on the road," he said. "There were no collisions in our area, which was the main aim of this operation."
Sergeant Wright said people need to be reminded to slow down when passing a police and other emergency vehicles that are stopped and have its lights flashing.
"It's now the law that people have to slow down to 40 kilometres an hour when an emergency vehicle has flashing lights on in order to pass safely," he said. "The vast majority of people are still passing us at 100."
