There was a fair bit of anticipation around Mbofana's mid-season arrival at the Blue Panthers.
Before he had played a game, one Horsham Cricket Association captain described the charismatic Zimbabwean as someone who bowls like Tony Caccaviello and bats like Gary Davidson.
The highly-touted all-rounder was drawn to the Horsham league after playing a season in England with Rup-Minyip team-mate Vic Lothian.
"He told me to come down and give it a crack in Horsham. He said we needed a bit of a gun player," Mbofana laughed. "I've been enjoying it. There are some really good players here."
While Mbofana said he had not played his best cricket this season, he has certainly shown glimpses.
His first match in January sounded a warning shot to the competition. In a twenty20 match against the Horsham Saints, he took 2-6 off his four overs before smashing a quickfire half-century and finishing not out on 55.
He continued to cause damage as an opening bowler in the back half of the season, taking 17 wickets - including 10 in his last three matches - at an average of 12.18.
His 55 on debut is Mbofana's top score with the bat, a total he is determined to eclipse at the weekend.
"I've been getting good starts, I just need to go on with it," he said. "I've been good as a bowler but I haven't done much with the bat.
"I will be looking forward to this game on Saturday and I will be fired up for it. I want to make some runs."
Mbofana said Rup-Minyip was determined to make amends after letting Homers slip in the final game of the home and away season.
Rup-Minyip lost five wickets for eight runs late in the run chase, falling 21 runs short of inflicting Homers' first loss of the season.
"The good thing is we've got another chance to prove ourselves this weekend," Mbofana said.
"I'm looking forward to it. I'm a competitor and I am ready to take Homers on.
"They are going to come hard and we are going to go hard as well.
"They have been undefeated all season but it only takes one game to knock them out of this competition."
No matter how the weekend pans out, Mbofana said he was locked in for another season in Horsham, and was keen to show what he could do in a full season.
"I am definitely coming back next season, and I will make sure I get the runs," he said. "I will make sure I'm one of the top three run scorers in the league... you can mark that down."
