Dean Lofthouse, 44, appeared at Horsham Magistrates' Court and pleaded guilty to three charges including family violence, destroying property and breaching bail conditions.
Police prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Dave Cosgriff said police opposed bail. He said Lofthouse was a risk of not appearing at court and was "a danger to the public".
The court heard Lofthouse was on bail for a separate matter during the time of the offences.
Horsham Constable Craig Major told the court the victim in the matter was a 42-year-old Horsham woman.
The court heard that on April 28 Lofthouse attended the victim's address and an argument broke out.
During the morning of April 29 the victim heard Lofthouse yelling outside the house and calling her names. The victim told Lofthouse she would call the police and left the house.
Lofthouse smashed a window in the front of the house with an unknown force and the victim called police.
Lofthouse continued to yell abuse at the victim and started throwing items around the front of the house. A neighbour witnessed the incident and called out to Lofthouse to stop.
Lofthouse threw a pot plant through a window in the victim's house and left the property.
Police arrived at the victim's house and took photographs of the broken windows.
Members located Lofthouse in Horsham and took him to Horsham Police Station where he was interviewed. A Medicare card that was not Lofthouse's was located in his backpack.
"During the interview, Lofthouse said the damage to the windows was already there. He told police that he had planned to return the Medicare card to Medicare. He was aware that he was on bail at the time of the incident," Constable Major said.
The court heard that Lofthouse had a history of family violence with the victim.
"He is an unacceptable risk to the victim and has failed to answer bail in the past," Constable Major said.
"He has admitted to police of consuming large amounts of alcohol and marijuana. The victim has also told police that she is against bail being granted."
Lofthouse's defence lawyer Nick Graham said his client's plea of guilty was proof that he was remorseful for his actions. He also said Lofthouse would have stable accommodation with his adult son if released.
Magistrate Mark Stratmann said he was concerned Lofthouse would fail to answer bail.
"There are risks according to the prosecution that you will danger the safety of the public if released," Mr Stratmann said.
Mr Stratmann said he did not find compelling reasons to release Lofthouse on bail.
Lofthouse was remanded into police custody and will next appear at Horsham Magistrates' Court on May 30.
