The lights underwent testing from an independent body on Wednesday night to assess whether they could host a night match. Horsham District interleague training was also ran under the lights on Wednesday.
Natimuk United president Adam Blake said it was an exciting prospect for the showgrounds.
"It's important that we have a level of lighting here that is required," Blake said.
"Once we've established that ... we're happy to say the objective is to host a night game.
"We'll need league support and approval of course ... but fundamentally we want to be able to have a game."
The project for the new lights was spearheaded by the Natimuk Showgrounds Management Committee, who hoped the lights could also be used for other sports and community events as well.
Natimuk United would be the first club in the Horsham District league with the required lighting to host a night match.
Blake said there were a lot of aspects that needed to be taken into account.
"This is the first in the Horsham District league, so there is a lot to consider," Blake said. "Things like how do you schedule the netball? Who are we going to play? Are the toilets light enough as well? It all needs to be taken into account.
"It's a matter of understanding the logistics and learning how we can make it a winner for all."
