A pen of 56 second cross extra heavy lambs sold account Huebner Pty Ltd, set the Warracknabeal fortnightly sale alight when they were knocked down for $308 on Wednesday - a state record.

Elders Warracknabeal manager and auctioneer Aaron Zwar said it was a "very enjoyable" job selling such quality lambs.
"Even so we might only hold the record until Monday," he said.
The lambs were an estimated weights of 40 to 45 kilograms, or around $7.15/kg when the skin was taken off.
Mr Zwar said the Heubners from nearby Homecroft bred the lambs out of top first cross ewes with a White Suffolk sire.
He said the lambs were just July-August drop, but had been fed well on home grown grain from feeders in the paddock.
"It's good to see producers rewarded for their efforts to get lambs to this stage," Mr Zwar said.
Elders and Landmark yarded 8000 cross bred and Merino lambs on Wednesday.
Mr Zwar said heavy lamb numbers had peaked and yardings would start to drift lower.
He said that as cropping programs finished the land available for sheep gradually diminished.
