But, that rings true for Horsham Saints' captain Ashlee Grace.
"Being 21 and in the older group is a bit weird, but it's just come about because we've got so many talented youngsters," she said.
"I probably didn't think it would be so early. It's quite an honour to be captain of a premiership team, let alone, this year with such a young group. It's quite good and lucky for me.
"I've never been at any other club, so it's quite a humbling experience I guess."
The rising star was quick to play down her importance to the side and said the environment around the club eased the demands on a captain.
"It's pretty easy. It's pretty cruisy when everyone in your team has such high respect for each other, which is great," she said.
"We've got a good group and considering some of us don't really train, we've come together pretty well I'd say."
"I think even just with being successful for the past two years it kind of keeps a positive vibe going and it's good with everyone helping each other to improve every week to get better."
Grace has long been instrumental in the middle of the court for the Saints and was runner-up in the league's best-and-fairest awards last season.
That form has carried over into the new season, and the young gun is confident the Saints can still reach new heights.
"I think our seniors are coming together more as a group to be more successful. I think the last few years we've been very successful, like last year we had A, B and C grades all in finals," she said. "It's just working together as a whole club to get our juniors through the senior ranks and improving each week, to hopefully get the sweep one day."
Grace is in her last two years of study in Ballarat and makes the trip home each weekend to play for her beloved Horsham Saints.
"Sometimes it tough when you've got work due and all your assignments, but to come back to a club that you love is not too hard."
The Horsham Saints are hoping to recover from a tight loss last round when they host Stawell.
Elsewhere, Minyip-Murtoa take on Horsham.
The Burras remain undefeated but face a tough test against a strong Horsham side.
Ararat will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the ladder when it hosts the Southern Mallee Giants.
The Warrack Eagles, meanwhile, travel to face a Nhill side without a win.
Dimboola has the bye.
