Tuesday's burn should be complete by 6pm, but the authority said people in surrounding areas may be affected by smoke from the 8.9-hectare burn.
"The burn objective is to use traditional owner techniques to provide conditions for the establishment of native grasses in densities at least double than present within 3 years of annual burning," the body said.
Forest Fire Management Victoria said access to walking tracks, car parks, camping grounds and picnic sites in areas close to or in burn areas may be restricted.
