Uwe Virag, 38, appeared at Horsham Magistrates' Court on July 3 and entered a consolidated plea of guilty to five family violence charges.
The court heard Virag and the female victim had been in a relationship since November 2018.
A personal safety order was placed at Dandenong Magistrates' Court on June 13 between Virag and the victim.
Virag and the victim were at a Rupanyup address on June 29 when a fight broke out about 1.45am.
Police were called to the address and the victim told them Virag had shown controlling behaviour towards her.
Police saw the victim had bruising to her upper body. She was taken to Wimmera Base Hospital where bruising was also located on her upper arms.
Police arrested Virag. He was bailed to appear at court in August.
The victim left the hospital in the evening of June 29. Police attended the Rupanyup address at 7.45pm to locate her.
When they arrived, they located Virag under a bed. This breached both the bail conditions and the court order conditions.
When police asked Virag about the bruises on the victim, he said "that's not my behaviour" and "she bruises easily, it could have been from a massage".
The court heard Virag lived at the Rupanyup property and was employed to look after animals.
It also heard Virag had breached the order because he was "concerned" about the victim's mental health.
Magistrate Peter Dunn placed a full family violence intervention order on Virag.
Mr Dunn said Virag had exhibited controlling and domineering behaviour. He also said Virag had "complete disregard" for the order.
"There seems to be a lack of any insight into his offending behavior and the court orders," he said.
"(The report) says he intends to remain in a relationship with the victim. How do you remain in a relationship someone who has a no contact order against you?
"It's not about what you want, it's about complying with the court order."
Virag was assessed for a community corrections order.
Mr Dunn sentenced Virag to three months in jail, with two days served.
When released, Virag will complete a community corrections order with 200 hours of community service.
