Sergeant Darren Wright said police detected the 48-year-old South Australian man travelling 45km/h over the 100km/h limit at Miram about 6.30pm.
He said the car was travelling towards Adelaide.
"Police issued him with an infringement notice was issued and his licence will be suspended for six months. He was also fined $702," he said.
Sergeant Wright said police wanted to remind drivers the speed limit on the Western Highway was a 100km/h zone, unless stated otherwise.
"We are actively patrolling the Western Highway and ask people to slow down and always check their speed," he said.
"It is a 100km/h zone, not 110km/h."
