Victoria Police have confirmed the incident took place at an "agricultural event" near the Sunraysia Highway in Speed just after 2.45pm on Wednesday.
"A single engine light plane landed roughly causing it to flip," a statement from police said.
"The single male occupant, believed to be aged in his 60s from Mildura, sustained a non-life threatening injury and has been transported to hospital for treatment.
"The exact cause of the incident is yet to be determined at this stage. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been notified."
An ATSB spokesman said the body was gathering information about the incident to decide whether to investigate further.
Ambulance Victoria confirmed paramedics were called to the light plane incident.
Mallee Machinery Field Days secretary Andrew McLean said the committee was closing the airstrip for Thursday - the second and final day of the show - and would "review what to do for the future".
