Argall coached the club to premiership success in 2015, and also won a premiership as a player in 2013.
In his last season at Laharum in 2016, Argall won the Dellar medal as the league's best and fairest.
He also claimed the league's leading goalkicker award in 2013 after booting a whopping 125 goals across the season.
Laharum are expected to appoint a co-coach alongside Argall in the coming months.
Tom Crawford, who was thrust into the head coaching role after the mid-season departure of Robbie Miller, is expected to be an assistant coach.
Argall has spent the last three seasons at the Warrack Eagles in the Wimmera Football League, helping guide the side to a preliminary final in 2017.
The versatile ruckman or key forward has however had a frustrating 2019 as an assistant coach with the Eagles.
Injury has restricted the big man to just seven games for the season, as the Warrack Eagles finished the season in second last. Argall's most recent match was in round seven against Minyip-Murtoa.
When Argall departed Laharum to join the Eagles, he declared Laharum his "home club" and vowed to one day return.
Securing Argall is a positive early signing for Laharum, who are trying to bounce back from a difficult season.
After winning two of their first three games of the year, the Mountain Men lost 13 consecutive matches to finish 2019 in 10th place, their lowest finish in recent memory.
