The 18-year-old footballer is up for selection to play in a VFLW grand final for the Western Bulldogs.

Speaking to the Ararat Advertiser at the start of the season, Wood said she was hoping to simply play one game at any stage of the season.

But since her debut in round 12, Wood has solidified her place, playing the last four games of the regular season and both finals.

Wood's tenacity for the contest has been a highlight, as she laid a stunning 11 tackles in the Bulldogs semi-final victory.

"I've dreamed about playing one VFLW or AFLW game, and here I am in contention for a grand final appearance," Wood said.

"It's unbelievable. It's an amazing feeling."

The Western Bulldogs face Collingwood on Sunday at Ikon Park, Melbourne.

The Bulldogs finished the season third, with 12 wins and four losses.

After falling to the Magpies by 74-points in round seven, the Bulldogs managed to turn their season around.

The Doggies have won their way through to a grand final with elimination and semi-final victories against Richmond and Collingwood.

"I didn't know we lost to Collingwood until moments before I ran out onto the ground in the semi-final," Wood said.

"I think this week's game will be 50/50 - it could go either way.

"I won't be changing things up too much. If I'm fortunate enough to be picked in the team, I will just relax the night before and try not to think about the game too much."

The Ararat College student travels each week to train with the club.

"Being part of the club is an unreal feeling - the experience is unbelievable," Wood said.

"The players and staff are so supportive. I was honestly nervous at the start of the season but now I feel right at home.

"I never thought I would be as interested in football as I am now. They just bring a whole new dynamic to the game.

"I would give up anything to be part of this club in the future."

Wood said the club had a special ability to make her feel connected and supported while not living in the area.

"There is a lot of commitment involved when playing football at this level," she said.

"I work and am also currently studying year 12.

"I'm committed and love it, and I'm looking forward to seeing what I can achieve in the sport."
