The Lady Hornets suffered their first loss of the season, going down to the Bellarine Storm 69-65.
A fast start saw the Lady Hornets hold a 27-18 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Storm came out stronger in the second quarter, to restrict the visitors to only eight points.
They were unable to inflict significant damage on the scoreboard, however, with the Lady Hornets clinging on to a 35-27 lead at the main break.
Momentum shifted in the third quarter as Olivia Fuller - who finished with a game-high 30 points - swung the game in her Storm's favour.
The Lady Hornets entered the final quarter trailing by two points.
The lead changed hands in the game's dying stages, as each side stood up to the challenge.
A Molly Lakin three-pointer took the Lady Hornets back to within one point late in the game, but they were unable to chase the Storm down.
Meanwhile, in the men's competition, the Hornets continued their perfect start with a 98-69 win against the Bellarine Storm.
The Hornets were five points up at the end of the first quarter and didn't relinquish the lead for the rest of the game.
Jeremiah McKenzie expressed his dominance, claiming a game-high 24 points.
He was well supported by Mitch Martin, who racked up 20 points, and Austin McKenzie and Tim Pickert, who both collected 19 points.
