A spokeswoman said the town's SES Unit was called to the club on Whitehead Avenue at 4.38pm on Wednesday afternoon.
"A large section of the roof came off," she said.
"There were no reports of anyone trapped or injured, and the unit was just making sure things were safe."
Club representatives took to social media to shed more light on what happened and the consequences of the damage done.
