"We've identified the room of origin and nothing else at the moment," he said. "The house has been abandoned for years. No one's lived in it."
Update 12.40pm: Horsham Detective Senior Constable Louise Grant says police are treating the fire as suspicious.
She would not disclose what started the fire as investigations by the police and CFA are ongoing.
"If anyone saw anything in the area between 1am and 3am (on Tuesday), they can call 5382 9200 or Crime Stoppers," she said.
Tuesday morning: Police have established a crime scene on Horsham's Hazel Street, where a house was destroyed by fire on Tuesday morning.
Horsham Acting Sergeant Ross McLeay said police were notified of the blaze at 3am on Tuesday.

"The house was vacant, and police are establishing whether it was suspicious," he said.
"Country Fire Authority investigators will be attending as well."
