Sergeant Darren Wright said police had been notified of thefts from five Kaniva residences in the past week.
"Four of those happened overnight between January 20 and 21," he said.
It comes after similar incidents between January 17 and 19 where $2000 worth of garden ornaments were stolen from multiple Nhill residences.
Sergeant Wright said he suspected the two cases were linked due to the time period and location of the thefts.
"It's very rare and unusual, and not a common occurrence, which makes me think they were linked," he said.
"Small to medium ornaments ranging from $50 to $150 were stolen from Kaniva front gardens. Some have great sentimental value; these incidents are affecting our residents greatly and we would love to see it solved."
Sergeant Wright urged people with information to contact Kaniva Police on 5392 2244, Nhill Police on 5391 1022 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
