He was given certain clues that would take him through the deadly traps that lay ahead of him.
The first clue was "The Breath of God. Only the penitent man will pass." Indiana begins to repeat the phrase under his breath - searching for its meaning. "Penitent man, penitent man, penitent, penitent. The penitent man is humble before God", he said.
Indiana drops to his knees, bowing before God.
At the same moment he drops down to his knees, a giant blade swoops through where his neck had been just a second before.
Because of our haughtiness within humanity, the impenitent man refuses to bend his knee to the almighty God. We all suffer from a certain amount of pride, causing many to refuse to be humble before our maker.
Yet God in flesh, Jesus Christ humbled himself for all mankind that all might be able to have a relationship with God the father. Proverbs 16:18 tells us that pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
My prayer is that each one of you will, "Humble yourself before the mighty hand of God that He may exult you in due time." (1 Peter 5:6)
