Wood's place in the team was confirmed on Friday afternoon, named on the wing for the Tigers' round three clash against early-season premiership fancies North Melbourne.
Her long-held footballing dream was realised on Sunday, as she strode out for her childhood team in front of 3,697 fans at Ikon Park - an afternoon she won't soon forget.
While the sun was at its hottest for the 3:10pm start time, Wood battled against the heat and a rampant North Melbourne to amass six disposals - four handballs, two kicks - and one tackle, in an intense affair.
Wood's tenacity, speed, and thirst for the contest were the highlights of her performance, and the 19-year-old will be hoping she did enough to solidify her position in the team for at least another week.
The Tigers however were outgunned by the Kangaroos forward of centre, suffering their third consecutive loss 2.8 (20) to 12.4 (76).
Richmond is still searching for its first AFLW victory, having entered the competition for the first time this season.
Richmond coach Tom Hunter said the blow-out loss confirmed that the Kangaroos were the competition's benchmark side.
"It seems that way," he said. "They were pretty good today.
"They are a talented list, have some great players, and they can certainly hurt you offensively as we learnt today."
