A spokesman for transport fuel supplier and convenience retailer Caltex revealed the news on Tuesday night.
"A team member at our Horsham store has today tested negative to COVID-19," he said.
"We acknowledge the concern this may have caused customers at what is a difficult time. Our clear policy regarding employees with symptoms or undergoing testing for COVID-19 is to stand down immediately and not report to work for a period of 14 days.
"We have clearly reiterated to all our Store Managers and broader team members of their obligations regarding health and safety in our stores."
It followed a facebook post circulating on Tuesday night warning people not to go to Caltex Horsham, which has since been removed.
Victoria police has urged residents to only share confirmed information from the relevant authorities on COVID-19.
