While other sports have ground to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic, racing continued across the weekend, allowing Horsham-trained mare Minola to claim its first victory.
Paul Preusker's four-year-old finished the quickest across the final 400 to win a $35,000 race in Ballarat on Sunday.
Minola finished more than two lengths ahead of the pack to claim its maiden victory just three weeks after finishing second in a 1600 metre race in Ballarat.
The racehorse was ridden superbly by Horsham's Dean Yendall on Sunday, who had one other podium finish on the day.
Meanwhile Stawell-based trainer Dane Smith also claimed victory across the weekend, with five-year-old Chalcidian winning a $22,000 race in Avoca.
