Second positive coronavirus case presents to Wimmera Health Care Group testing clinic in Horsham

A spokesman for the group told the Mail-Times on Monday that the person was likely tested a few days ago as it takes time for the test to show results.

He said the clinic did not know where the person lived but that they had been sent home to self-isolate.

The first positive case from the clinic was recorded on Saturday and the patient was registered as residing in the Horsham municipality.

A specific location was not provided as the Department of Health and Human Services only issues updates on cases by Local Government Area.

The spokesman said this was the second positive case the assessment clinic has recorded since it opened on March 19.

"We're doing anywhere between 20 and 25 a day (of assessments) and about 10 of those a day have met the criteria for swabbing," he said.

The Wimmera recorded its first COVID-19 case on March 22, in the Yarriambiack Shire.

The Northern Grampians has recorded four positive cases of the virus,.

DHHS said on Monday the total number of COVID-19 cases in Victoria was 821 - an increase of 56 from yesterday.

Four people have died, many more are in hospital or self-isolating at home.

The total number of cases includes 447 men and 370 women, with people aged from three to 88.

There are 26 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state that may have been acquired through community transmission.

More than 42,000 Victorians have been tested to date.

Currently 29 people are in hospital, including four patients in intensive care.

Two hundred and forty-eight people have recovered.

Of the total 821 cases, there have been 653 in metropolitan Melbourne and 146 in regional Victoria.

A number of cases remain under investigation.
