Parks Victoria will close more high-visitation parks from midnight Wednesday, April 8 to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
According to Parks Victoria, the following parks will be closed until further notice to protect the health of staff and volunteers:
Western Victoria
Bay of Islands Coastal Park
Discovery Bay Coastal Park
Grampians National Park
Great Otway National Park
Lower Glenelg National Park
Mount Arapiles-Tooan State Park
Port Campbell National Park
Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve
Northern Victoria
Barmah National Park
Cathedral Ranges State Park
Gunbower National Park
Hattah-Kulkyne National Park
Murray Sunset National Park
Lake Eildon National Park
Toorourrong Reservoir Park
Eastern Victoria
Alpine National Park
Baw Baw National Park
Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park
Howqua Hills Historic Area
Mount Buffalo National Park
Walhalla Historic Area
Wilsons Promontory National Park
Mount Arapiles-Tooan State Park, Great Otway National Park, and Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park are partially open for local community members to exercise only.
Other parks and reserves remain accessible for exercise if physical distancing requirements are strictly followed.
Parks Victoria Rangers will be patrolling open and closed parks, working with Victoria Police and authorised officers from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning to monitor compliance with the chief health officer's directions.
Victoria Police can issue on the spot fines of up to $1652 for individuals and up to $9913 for businesses who don't follow these directions.
Due to the rapidly changing nature of the situation, Parks Victoria will continue to monitor visitation rates with the possibility of further changes to park closures, in accordance with the chief health officer's directions.
