Sergeant Darren Wright said between 8am and 8.50am a white Toyota Hilux dual cab with South Australian number plates was spotted driving erratically and at speed through Lillimur and on back roads.
He said police followed the vehicle into South Australia, where they spoke with the alleged driver, a Bordertown man, 23.
Sergeant Wright said the man might face infringement notices including for unlicensed driving and COVID-19 breach.
He said the South Australian police were also investigating.
Sergeant Wright said Kaniva police continued to work strongly with the Bordertown police.
"We're moving in the same direction," he said.

In an unrelated matter, Kaniva police are also investigating after an incident at the town's netball clubrooms early Saturday.
Sergeant Wright said a number of people unlawfully gained access to the property about 3am.
He said there was no damage and nothing stolen.
Police are investigating the matter as trespass.
"We're still reviewing CCTV footage in the Kaniva area," he said.
"Police are confident we will identify the suspects."
Sergeant Wright said the suspects faced trespass and COVID-19 breach notices.
He asked anyone with information on either matter to call the Kaniva Police Station on 5392 2244.
Other news:
Sergeant Wright said it was otherwise a quiet weekend, with no COVID-19 breaches reported on Mother's Day.
"I was really delighted to know there was no activity," he said.
He said overall the Kaniva community had been tremendous in its behaviour.
But he warned those still not following the rules.
"We're getting a little bit tired of handing out warnings and we're strongly considering infringement notices moving forwards," he said.
Sergeant Wright said he understood people were weary of the restrictions.
"It's for the safety of everyone," he said.
