THE FOOTBALL grounds and netball courts normally echoing with the shouts of players and the trill of the umpires' whistles are eerily silent as people across the Wimmera adjust to life without their great winter pastimes.

However, one club is determined to keep its members engaged throughout the enforced lay-off of the COVID-19 lockdown.
Noradjuha Quantong FNC is urging its players and members to don their club gear on Friday May 22 and submit images of daily life in isolation Bomber-style
"We can't get to the footy or netball but we can all put our gear on and hopefully that reminds people that this is all temporary and we'll be back better than ever," said event organiser Olivia Treacy.
"There's no doubt a lot of people are missing their sport and we as a club are trying our best to ensure people remain connected even though we can't meet in person," Ms Treacy said.
"Just get out there and show your support, whether it's a full uniform or just your club cap or beanie.
"Even if you're not wearing your gear, pin something to your mailbox or your car, we want to see all of Bomberland loud and proud."
As well as the club colours day Ms Treacy said the club had run a number of social media campaigns during the lockdown as part of a push to retain connection among members.
"We've made some videos, one with the netballers and a mock training drill, another with the Auskickers and their parents and they have been really well received," she said.
"It's been a bit of fun and hopefully if nothing else it brings a smile to people's faces for a couple of minutes during what is a difficult time for many."
She said the club would also be collecting photos and videos from its club colours day and collate them for members to view.
