The AFL says it is committed to running NAB League boys' and girls' under-18 competitions despite a COVID-19 cloud hanging over the season.
AFL head of talent and state league competitions Tristan Salter said the focus was to ensure the young talent was provided with the best opportunity to develop as footballers and ultimately reach the elite level.
"We will continue to meet with all stakeholders and review the structure of the season based on the changing circumstances.
"We remain committed to providing the right platform for the players and clubs and give NAB League girls and boys the opportunity to showcase their talent," Salter said.
The Ballarat-based Greater Western Victoria Rebels program is yet to resume after being shutdown in March. Full-time staff remain stood down, with no dates yet set for a return to training.
The boys' season is scheduled to begin on August 22, and girls' competition resume with round four games on September 5.
